A downloadable game

Description

Hex Escape is a fantasy puzzle-platformer game that utilizes perspective. You play as a young hero and embark on a journey to find a way to escape. This platformer game consists of 3D environments and 2D characters in which the player must make use of the ability to switch perspectives (between 2D and 3D) to realign platforms, solve puzzles, and avoid the monsters.

Development

We used a kanban style of development when creating this game. A link to the Trello board that we created can be viewed here. During our brainstorming phase prior to development, we utilized a Miro board to flesh out all of the ideas and concepts the group members pitched. That can be viewed here.

Early in development, our direction was more a JRPG-esque style of game, but it quickly evolved to grow into the puzzle game we created and have published today. Most of the progress was documented and can be seen in a YouTube playlist here.

Development and early brainstorming drawings/ideas can be seen below.
